“The full measure of love is to love beyond measure”

The ancient spiritual practice of meditating on Metta or Loving kindness allows us to focus on generating thoughts of loving kindness, friendliness, goodwill, benevolence and non-violence towards ourselves, those near and dear to us and ultimately all of creation. It is one of four qualities described in various spiritual traditions, the others being compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity. As we develop strong feelings of loving kindness, we begin to have strong desires for the well being and happiness of others as well as ourselves. As these qualities grow through the practice of mindfulness meditation on universal love, we acquire an inner capacity for patience, acceptance, compassion and forgiveness. It also translates into an inner power which promotes a shift, opening our hearts to be fearless and to see reality more clearly. To paraphrase Thomas Merton, as we

learn to let go of our “ego-self” we begin to discover our “true-self”. The practice of loving kindness meditation can also lead to deeper levels of mindfulness. There will be periods of sitting and walking meditation plus instructional talks. Beginners are welcome.
