Experience the harmonious blend of music and nature at Music on the Grounds, a cherished event of our spring and summer programs. Immerse yourself in the captivating melodies of talented musicians while soaking in the beauty of the coulees' edge. Kicking off the season, we're delighted to present Henk van Ginneken and Cathy Hawley.

Acoustic performer Henk van Ginneken is a Folk, Roots and classical musician. Backing up raw vocals with harmonicas, guitars, mandolin and 6-string banjo, Henk has been performing at festivals, coffee houses and folk clubs, as well as a lot of busking for well over 40 years.

Cathy Hawley is born and raised in Prince Edward County, Ontario. She grew up in a musical family. Don Messer, old time music and country were her childhood influences. In her early teen years, she was introduced to folk, bluegrass – Baez, Doc Watson, Bill Monroe, and that whole acoustic sixties music scene brought to life by music festivals – Mariposa, Berkshires, and in particular, Mike Seeger and John Cohen of the New Lost City Ramblers. She mostly play livingroom concerts with friends – and still love those “oldies” that her contemporaries bring to that setting.

Whether you come solo or with friends, bring your lawn chair or a cozy blanket, allowing you to fully embrace the serenity of the surroundings while indulging in the delighted music. Additionally, for those seeking to enhance their experience with a delightful outdoor picnic supper, we are pleased to offer hamburgers, beef on the bun and  other treats available for purchase.
