Lenten Society

The Lenten Society is a temporary Religious Society formed for the season of Lent. It is open to anyone who wishes to walk together in intentional community. Members of the society will commit to a shared Rule of Life of Prayer, Scriptural Meditation, Hospitality, Generosity, Fasting, Sabbath, participation in the sacramental life of the Church, and Silence & Solitude, which each member will adapt to fit their personal needs. When laid out this way, a Rule of Life can sound overwhelming, but I promise that this is doable for anyone who chooses to participate. Yes, it will stretch us, but it is intended to form and mould us, not break us.

Ultimately, the Society's purpose is to practice repentance, spiritual discipline, and mutual encouragement in preparation for Easter. Recognizing that Lent is best lived not in isolation but within intentional community, the Society will meet weekly on Tuesday to pray,…
